We are delighted to share the fantastic news that, following Stramongate Primary School’s Ofsted inspection on 13th and 14th May, the school received a ‘Good’ rating in all five areas:
- The quality of education
- Behaviour and attitudes
- Personal development
- Leadership and management
- Early years provision.
The Ofsted report is full of glowing comments about our school. This is a reflection of the fantastic community we have built, including our staff, children, parents, governors and wider community. The school has transitioned into Cumbria Education Trust (CET) with resilience and positive outcomes already, as noted by the inspectors, “Together, the trust and the school have a shared vision. The best interests of pupils lie at the heart of any changes that are made.”
Throughout our inspection, we were able to showcase our quality of education, with inspectors noting, “The school and the trust have high expectations for pupils’ achievement.” They also recognised the wide-ranging experiences our children receive, “Pupils learn a broad and engaging curriculum. This is enriched with visits, residential trips and outdoor learning experiences.”
The report highlights several key strengths of our school, including the behaviour and attitudes of our children, “Pupils are happy at this school. Staff build nurturing relationships with pupils. They help them to feel safe and to live out the school’s values of respect, responsibility and resilience.”
This includes the importance we place on attendance, “The school and trust’s high expectations for attendance are shared widely and are understood by staff, pupils and parents and carers.”
We are delighted that the inspectors recognised how personal development is an important part of our offering, “The school supports pupils’ broader development effectively. Pupils learn about the importance of maintaining their mental and physical health.”
This also includes giving children more responsibility in school to grow, “The school promotes pupils’ leadership skills through roles such as school councillors and ‘worry buddies’. Pupils are proud of the impact they have through these roles.”
Our incredible team of staff were also highly praised, “The school has ensured that staff’s subject and pedagogical knowledge is strong” and “staff build nurturing relationships with pupils. They help them to feel safe and to live out the school’s values of respect, responsibility and resilience.”
Our Early Years provision is important to ensure our children start their educational journey in the strongest way possible. This was noted in our report, “The school has defined clearly the key knowledge it expects pupils to know each year, starting from the early years” and “staff in the early years support children well to understand the feelings of others”.
There are lots more positive comments within the report. Please take the time to read through them. We want to take this opportunity to thank every member of staff for their tireless dedication and passion for what they do. We would also like to recognise our wonderful children, whose attitude and behaviour impressed inspectors throughout the visit. And finally, thank you to our parents and carers, for your ongoing support – it truly makes a difference.
As we look to the future, we are more determined than ever to continue improving, ensuring that every child at Stramongate Primary School thrives both academically and personally.
This is a proud moment for our school, and we look forward to building on this success together.
